Position Summary

The World Resources Institute (WRI) Sichuan Project office is seeking a highly self-motivated student to be research intern for China Sustainable Transition Center. The term will be at least three months, preferably six months. Onsite/online/hybrid work mode is acceptable with on-time deliverables of high quality. Interns are required to work at least 3 days a week and upon request (Based in Chengdu). The intern will support carbon emission pathway analysis for the Chinese provinces and exploring the technical feasibility and action plans for achieving carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality in different industries.

Responsibilities

1. Research (60%)

• Regularly update countries and regional policies and subnational climate, energy, economics and social policies as needed

• Conduct literature review and draft report

• Copyedit reports and working papers

• Search for related data for carbon emission pathway analysis and analyze data by applying MS Excel

• Draft summary referring to data and information 

• Other research activities per requests

2. Translation and other administrative affairs (40%) 

• Assist in the translation per request of team members

• Assist in event preparation and related materials

• Supply administrative support per the request of team members

Qualifications

• Enrolled graduate student for degree in Environment, Economics or Public Policy related majors; undergraduate (at least Junior) students with outstanding performance are also acceptable

• Familiar with climate change policies and issues is preferred

• Experience of participating relevant research and project is preferred

• Well in research and analysis by using models and analysis tools 

• Fluency in Chinese and English

• Response to request in a timely manner

• Ability to work independently with little supervision
