Using only one piece of fabric, the qipao conforms to the body through a folding and structuring, rather than relying on complex tailoring. The qipao was popularized in Shanghai in the early 1900s, and using it as a starting point, Professor Li demonstrates how long-established design concepts can be reinterpreted in modern times and integrated with contemporary fashion.
