“你们知道吗？我和妻子现在都获得了中国的五星卡永久居留身份证！”6月26日，在2025武汉投资促进大会现场，中国美国商会华中执委会主席卡腾龙在提到自己的“新身份”时满脸自豪。

Cartonlong, Chairman of the Central China Executive Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, proudly shared on June 26 at the 2025 Wuhan Investment Promotion Conference that he and his wife have both obtained China's five-star permanent residence ID cards. 

他感慨，这张象征身份认同的“绿卡”，不仅是中外融合的见证，更是他一家人对武汉深情选择的归属。

He expressed that this "green card," which signifies official recognition, is not only a reflection of China's growing integration with the global community but also a symbol of his family's heartfelt decision to call Wuhan their home.

“2004年，我们全家从美国搬到武汉，原本只计划待三年。但三年期满前，我的妻子、孩子和我都一致决定留下来。如今21年过去，我们仍然在这里——武汉早已成为我们心中的家。”

“In 2004, our family moved to Wuhan from the United States, and originally planned to stay for only three years. But before the three years were up, my wife, children and I all decided to stay. Now 21 years have passed, and we are still here – Wuhan has long become home in our hearts.”

作为在汉外资企业代表和中国美国商会华中分会的创办人之一，卡腾龙在发言中表达了对武汉营商环境的肯定与赞许，也讲述了自己一家人在武汉生活二十余载的亲身经历。

As a representative of foreign-funded enterprises in Wuhan and one of the founders of the Central China Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, Cartonlong expressed his affirmation and approval of Wuhan's business environment in his speech, and also recounted his family's personal experience of living in Wuhan for more than 20 years.

2004年，卡腾龙以美国钻石动力机械湖北公司总经理身份初抵武汉，那时的城市面貌与今日不可同日而语。

In 2004, Cartonlong arrived in Wuhan as the general manager of Diamond Power Machinery Hubei Company. The city’s appearance at that time was completely different from today. 

他清楚地记得：“当时只有一段1号线轻轨列车，跨越长江的桥梁只有三座，连隧道都没有。公交车还没有空调，汽车行驶在拥挤的街道上。”

He clearly remembers: "At that time, there was only a section of Line 1 light rail train, there were only three bridges across the Yangtze River, and there were no tunnels. The buses did not have air conditioning, and cars drove on crowded streets."

如今，再看这座城市：12条地铁线路有序运行，跨江桥梁11座，隧道3条，“公交车有了空调，高速公路纵横交错，交通便利又高效”。

Today, looking at this city again: 12 subway lines are running in an orderly manner, there are 11 bridges across the river, and 3 tunnels, “buses have air conditioning, highways crisscross, and transportation is convenient and efficient.”

令他更感触颇深的，是这二十年来武汉市政府对外资企业始终如一的支持：“无论我们讨论什么问题，每一次对话，政府都真诚回应、迅速行动”。

What impressed him even more was the consistent support of the Wuhan Municipal Government for foreign-invested enterprises over the past 20 years: “No matter what issue we discussed, in every dialogue, the government responded sincerely and acted quickly.” 

正是在这种开放包容、服务有力的环境下，2009年，他和多位外资企业代表一同创立了中国美国商会华中分会，与武汉携手成长。

It was in this open, inclusive and service-oriented environment that in 2009, he and a number of foreign-invested enterprise representatives founded the Central China Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, and grew hand in hand with Wuhan.

除了工作，卡腾龙分享更多的是家庭生活的点滴变化。他提到，初来武汉时，为外籍子女提供教育服务的学校只有一所，规模较小。

In addition to work, Cartonlong shared more about the changes in his family life. He mentioned that when he first came to Wuhan, there was only one small school providing educational services for foreign children.

几年间，在武汉市教育局的推动下，相关国际学校增至五所之多，教育条件和资源显著改善，“我的三个孩子就是在其中一所学校毕业的”。

In a few years, with the promotion of the Wuhan Municipal Education Bureau, the number of relevant international schools has increased to five, and educational conditions and resources have improved significantly. "My three children graduated from one of these schools."

“我经常和家人、朋友在江滩骑车、徒步、聚餐。如今，武汉的商业区已经可以和上海媲美！”他还特别提到城市日益完善的生活配套——绿道、公园、博物馆、餐饮娱乐、夜生活等不断丰富，生活方式日益多元。

“I often ride bikes, hike and have dinner with my family and friends on the river beach. Today, Wuhan's commercial district is comparable to Shanghai!” He also mentioned the city's increasingly improved living facilities – greenways, parks, museums, catering and entertainment, nightlife, etc. are constantly enriched, and lifestyles are becoming more and more diverse. 

无论是吉庆街、武汉天地、花园道，还是江滩沿线的社交场所，卡腾龙说：“我们喜欢的地方越来越多，也越来越丰富。”

Whether it is Jiqing Street, Wuhan Tiandi, Garden Road, or social places along the river beach, Cartonlong said: "There are more and more places we like, and they are becoming more and more diverse."

“有人问我在武汉生活工作是什么感受？我告诉他们：你可以享受上海的大部分便利，但生活成本却低很多。”

“Some people ask me what it's like to live and work in Wuhan, I tell them: You can enjoy most of the conveniences of Shanghai, but the cost of living is much lower.”

作为国际商务人士，卡腾龙经常往返各大城市，他对比数据娓娓道来：“武汉是全国高铁网络的枢纽中心，出行高效舒适，价格也很亲民，从这里出发不到5小时就能抵达北京、上海、厦门、香港等地。

As an international business person, Cartonlong often travels between major cities. He compared the data and said: “Wuhan is the hub of the national high-speed rail network. Travel is efficient and comfortable, and the price is very affordable. It takes less than 5 hours to reach Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Hong Kong and other places from here.” 

他坦言，武汉在很多方面都有显著进展，特别是在国际出行方面。“现在，天河机场建成了美丽而现代化的T3航站楼，我们可以直接从武汉飞往世界上至少14个国家。这实实在在为我们这些经常国际出行的人节省了至少5小时的飞行时间。”

He admitted that Wuhan has made significant progress in many aspects, especially in international travel. "Now, Tianhe Airport has built a beautiful and modern T3 terminal. We can fly directly from Wuhan to at least 14 countries in the world. This really saves at least 5 hours of flight time for those of us who travel internationally frequently.”

我们深爱武汉，也深爱这里热情的人民。我非常期待，更多直接投资项目和各类商业合作能够在武汉落地生根。”卡腾龙说，武汉不仅成就了他的事业，更包容了他的生活。他的肺腑之言，引来会场阵阵掌声。

“We love Wuhan and its enthusiastic people. I look forward to more direct investment projects and various business cooperation projects taking root in Wuhan." Cartonlong said that Wuhan not only made his career successful, but also made his life more inclusive. His heartfelt words drew applause from the audience.

“外籍武汉人”的卡腾龙的故事，正是武汉打造国际化营商环境、吸引全球投资落地生根的缩影。

The story of Cartonlong, a"foreign Wuhan resident"，is a microcosm of Wuhan's efforts to create an international business environment and attract global investment to take root.
