The People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China was founded on August 1, 1927. This day is an important holiday for the Chinese, which is known as Army Day.

August 1st saw the opening moments of the Nanchang uprising. During the Nanchang Uprising, the Communist Party of China founded the People’s Liberation Army, which was called Red Army at that time. Eventually, this day was chosen as Army Day. The two characters bayi became the main symbol of the flag and emblem of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

In China today, Army Day appears on calendars as a holiday. However, it is not one of China’s public holidays currently. But for professional soldiers, Army Day means shortened working hours.
